Gradually, the both of them became frequent meal buddies. Shou-wife ended work earlier and would go buy ingredients to cook. When Broken-Leg Gong reached home, he would come over and eat. After he said that, he reached out and used his fingers to help Shou-wife wipe his face. Warm fingers touched Shou-wife’s skin and he bowed his head down shyly.
One day while eating, Shou-wife carefully asked Broken-Leg Gong,”In the end, why did you not get together with Senior Bai?”
Broken-Leg Gong spat out the fishbone in his mouth and with a sigh said, “He is a straight man.”
There were 2 reasons why a man would not dare to confess. First, incompatible sexual orientation. Second, fear. At this dinner table, each of them took up an option.
Shou-wife did not want to continue hiding anymore. He wanted to confess. Actually, it was not in his plans. At that time when Shou-wife decided to move over, he did not think too much about it. “Happy birthday ah Lao Duan.” (T/N: The Duan comes from the Duan Tui, Which is Broken-Leg. I cannot take it with the author and her names…)
“Woke up so early?” Broken-Leg Gong’s lips curled up subconsciously.
“Mn, going out on a date.” Bai Yueguang ruffled his messy hair, looking like he had not fully woke up. “Oh I forgot to tell you, I found a girlfriend last week.”
Broken-Leg Gong’s smile froze.
After hanging up the call, Broken-Leg Gong’s expression fell obviously. Shou-wife sat by the side and observed all the changes in his expression. Broken-Leg Gong no longer had interest. He apologized to Shou-wife and said, “You go back first, I want to go to bed.”
Shou-wife did not move. Broken-Leg Gong wanted to repeat his words but instead, heard Shou-wife saying it first, “Let’s be together.”
“I like you, let’s be together.” Shou-wife stared into Broken-Leg Gong’s eyes, and was brave and determined.
Broken-Leg Gong did not expect such a situation and rubbed between his eyebrows. He said to Shou-wife, “But I have not given him up.”
Shou-wife’s felt a faint ache in his heart. “It is alright, I don’t mind.”
In the past, Shou-wife chose to leave the second he knew Broken-Leg Gong liked Bai Yueguang. But now, even though he knew Broken-Leg Gong was still in love with the other person, Shou-wife still wanted to stay by his side. Time would polish a person’s edges. It would change a Shou-wife to a Shou-thrash.
(T/N: I had difficulty translating this part because it is confusing in English.. but basically it means he has changed and became a shou that doesnt care about how the gong treats him as long as he gets to stay by his side.)
Shou-wife threw away all his dignity and after he used all his energy to stay those words, his eyes were full of tears. Broken-Leg Gong’s heart instantly softened and he pulled Shou-wife into his embrace. It was like he was coaxing a child as he patted his back and said, “Don’t cry, don’t cry.”
Shou-wife originally did not want to cry but once he was comforted like this, he ended up crying out. Earlier, he even straightened up and put up such a brave and determined front but right now, he completely collapsed.
Broken-Leg Gong was at a loss of what to do, the depression in his heart was completely wiped cleaned. At that moment, he completely tossed aside whatever Bai Yueguang or Lan Yueliang(Blue Moon). (T/N: lol this is funnier in chinese. I can’t explain it well.)
He just wanted Shou-wife to stop crying. Shou-wife’s numerous years of being secretly in love all surged up violently at this moment, his tears burst out and he fell into Broken-Leg Gong’s embrace to cry out ugly and loudly.
At the end, he lifted his head, and asked again with sobs, “Then, can we be together?”
Broken-Leg Gong’s heart became determined. “Ok!”
